The head of the centrifugal pump is also called the pressure head of the pump, which is the energy obtained by the unit weight of fluid through the pump. The head depends on the structure of the pump, such as the diameter of the impeller, the bending,and the rotational speed.
The pump head is about 1.15 ~ 1.20 times of the lifting height.If the water is 20 meters vertical to the ground, the required head is about 23 ~ 24 meters.When selecting the pump, the head of the pump should be close to the required head.The general deviation is not more than 20%,In this case, the pump is the most efficient,and it is more economical to use,If the head is much less than the required head,the pump often fails to meet the needs of the user,even if the water can be pumped up,the water is very small,If high head water pump used for low head,will lead to motor overload flow is too high if the long-running motor temperature,winding insulation will gradually aging,and even burning motor.
